vision and purpose

The vision and purpose of the school should be clear, challenging and shared. Furthermore, evidence of the school’s vision should be visible in individual lessons and whole school initiatives..

At Danube, we strive for excellence by engaging minds, exciting learners, acting ethically and showing empathy. We believe that these factors combined lead to Great Learning. However, this vision needs to be implemented on a daily basis and accessible to all. At a whole school level, our Learning and Teaching Strategy supports our vision by providing clear expectations and guidance. At an individual lesson level, we endeavour to ensure that all students are aware of the purpose of the  topic being taught and that all learning is authentic.

If however a school’s vision and purpose is unclear, unchallenging and inaccessible, the community will fail to pull together in a common direction and ineffectively waste opportunities for systemic improvement or create conflicting ideas about where the school is heading.  An absence of purpose in the learning environment leaves students  unaware of their objective. This lack of awareness may affect outcomes such as intrinsic motivation, growth and learning focus, which in turn will impact on Great Learning
