Danube International School Vienna is an IB world school offering a challenging curriculum (IB PYP, IB MYP and IB Diploma) for 560 students from early years to pre-university levels.
We have a growth mindset and embrace the diversity of our community and strive to challenge the minds of our students.
We are housed in an elegant, spacious and self-contained building. We are close to the centre of Vienna and next to Prater park. This location enables our children to experience high quality learning both inside and outside of the classroom. We have a highly qualified and experienced faculty representing a variety of cultures and nationalities.
At Danube we strive to have an aspirational culture that encourages students to realise their own gifts and talents. It is our responsibility to nurture and guide each individual. The school's warm friendly family atmosphere is grounded in respect, trust, compassion and the ideal of community service.
In addition to high academic standards, the international education that we offer focuses on four core components of emotional intelligence, cultural understanding, communication and collaboration. We aim to develop students to be independent learners and leaders in the global community.
Focusing on the principles of "Engagement, Excellence, Excitement, Ethics and Empathy" will enable us to fulfil our demanding Vision.
“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
about our tagline
In Autumn 2009, the school asked the parents, staff and students to complete the following - If you walk into an outstanding school/classroom, you immediately get a sense of ....
Our staff body responded overwhelmingly with the word engagement
Our parent community answered clearly with excellence
Our students stated - enjoyment, excitement and fun
Hence a tagline 'striving for excellence, engaging minds and exciting learners' was developed.
In 2013 following extensive reading around the GoodWork project the conception of 'Great Learning' was developed. Our tagline was altered to include the concept of ethics and of vital importance for learning organisations, empathy. 'Great Learning' can be thought of as 5 E's: Excellence, Engagement, Excitement, Ethics and Empathy. The new tagline can be seen at the foot of this website.
